The Arturo Fuente Story

The Fuente family is known for making some of the world’s finest cigars for generations. Their handmade cigars are so popular for its Cameroon wrappers.

Arturo Fuente was born in Cuba where he learned how to cultivate prime tobacco and make handmade cigars. In 1906, he worked as cigar roller in Key West, Florida. He has a high reputation for making excellent cigars which eventually lead to the first release of their very own branded cigars.

I’ll Surely Miss His Mom…

Anime Girl Crying with Him

She's gone forever...

While she was sick, I didn’t cry. During her wake, I didn’t cry. But during the last stop at North Cemetery Chapel for the cremation, I did shed some tears. I cried not only for his loss but mine as well. My boyfriend’s mom died last November 15 and it’s sad to think and I’ll have no more fourth mom. Yes, indeed. She treated me as her real daughter. And I’m lucky to have several lovely mothers. First is my real mom, second is my Grandma (who’s also gone), third is my godmother (mom’s sisters, my aunt) and fourth is my bf’s mom whom I’ve met 4 years ago. And during our 4-year-and-still-counting relationship, his mother has been a good friend and mother to me… and even to my sister who occasionally dropped by at their place.

I cried as I reminisced all the good things she has done for me. And it was like a flash back in a movie… seeing ourselves in different happy scenes. Surely, I’ll miss her.

There’ll be lots of changes at home but she’ll always be remembered. To Tita Renee (or Mommy, since I’ve learned to call her that way ‘coz that is what she liked), thanks for everything. May you rest in peace… <3

Filipino Culture: Close Family Ties

When I was in primary school, I remember my teacher discussing how the Filipino culture of close family ties hinder the success of most families and some family members. For example, the parents will prefer staying in the country rather than going abroad to seek greener pasture. The eldest who’s already married will be kept under the same roof so as to stay with the parent and siblings. The youngest who’d like to pursue a course in the city, say Manila, was pledged to finish a degree in their province instead.

But these are all things in the past. As time goes by, Filipinos become more practical and reasonable. Parents work overseas without fear of leaving their children in their homelands. With them are their family photos in precious family photo frames, woven dreams and a strong belief that they can build a brighter future by working hard away from home. Our family should make us stronger and family members should help each other. Togetherness is not just demonstrated by staying at home with everyone but felt within the caring hearts. There will always be a bond that keeps Filipino family together.

Direct-selling Business

My network’s growing rapidly! Okay, this is not about networking but having more people signed up for Human Nature membership under me is really a big bonus. Advertising through the word of mouth. My support for Gawad Kalinga is not only about building homes but also helping the Philippine farmers by promoting our very own organic skin care products.

It’s a business and charity in one. You earn by selling the best and affordable products while a certain portion of sale is given to the beneficiary. Last December 2010, 100% of all profit earned by Human Nature from the sales of Citronella Bug Spray was donated to the farmers’ cooperative to build new extractors, renovate schools and provide healthcare to the farming families in Bicol.

The current campaign is “CommPassion” – building dream for a passion fruit farming community. 100% of all profit earned from the sale of Passion Fruit Hydrating Mineral Lipstick will fund the development of a processing facility (@ Gawad Kalinga Village Pueblo Antonio in Catigan, Davao del Sur) for passion fruit seed oil. Isn’t it nice to earn and help at the same time?

I’ve been promoting Human Nature products for months and had joined two successful bazaar events already. The first one is at Tiendesitas, second is at Edsa Central Pavilion Mall. My sister and my upline helped me all through out. We retail skin care products and make ups. We also process on-site member registration. For more information on how to become a Human Nature dealer, click here – Human Nature (Earn, Help & Prosper)

Requirements can also be sent through email. Use a good scanning software to preserve the quality of your photos for your ID.

This post was inspired my ex-workmate who’ll be joining GK one more time. I’ve joined GK (Gawad Kalinga) Home-Building project before and I found it as a life-changing experience. Well, I’m into outreach activities ever since, but being with less fortunate kids and families, I keep being reminded that I’m so lucky with what I have and where I am.

Shameless plug here, Sunflower Beauty Oil is the best-selling Human Nature product so far but because this is Pinkville, I won’t be posting its picture here. Instead, I’m grabbing the PINK Kid’s Strawberry Sanitizer from Impulsive Buyer (for the sake of having a featured image for LinkWithIn).

Kid’s Strawberry Sanitizer

The sweetness of pink you can't resist!

A Year Older…

I did not receive a notebook computer for my birthday. I did not wish for it anyway. Hehe. So, how’s my birthday? Simple. In every sense of the word.

Magic The Gathering cake

I want my next birthday cake to be like this... MTG!

Simplicity means staying at home and celebrating with my family. This time, with my second family – his family. I had a hell week and it drove me nuts. I have another birthday post on Spread the W.O.R.D and you may want to check it out, too.

Family and friends greeted me through text messages, emails and Facebook. Too bad, I couldn’t invite them to celebrate with me. I missed them.

I’m a year older now…

So, what are my plans?

Still the same, have my own business. I used to be confused between being a successful career woman and business woman. I’d rather be the latter. I want to be my own boss. Yes, I am ambitious in a very positive way and I will work hard to realize all of my dreams!

Few days from now, I will definitely be on my own…
