Befriending Erythromycin

I’m alive, awake and kicking now! That’s big thanks to Erythromycin and my boyfriend! I was ill for 3 days and I have to make it up with the blogging world now. I wasn’t bed-ridden, just sick enough not to be able to sit that long in front of my laptop.

The rise and fall of my body temperature was kinda alarming...

Colds and cough. And on the second day of my fever, I figured out that it was tonsilitis. I should have known it sooner. When I experienced sore throat, I usually stick to home remedies I learned from my mom errr, through experience.
- Sip one teaspoon of vinegar.
- Gargle warm water with salt (or with DXN toothpaste)
- Melt lozenges in your mouth (such as Strepsils)

I failed to do anything of the above but they’ve worked for me in the past. I guess the scientific basis here is that these stuff can kill bacteria. Lol.

I relied that much with OTC medication. I popped several tablets and capsules of paracetamol, mefenamic acid and amoxicillin until my boyfriend’s sister suggested to take Erythromycin instead since that is the best antibiotic for tonsilitis. And it worked like a charm. Not an overnight cure though, but it really improved my condition. In two tablets, my throat doesn’t hurt anymore while talking and eating. Swallowing is less painful, too. :) Yay!

And I’m so talkative right now because all is well! Literally!

I was feeling feverish yesterday too due to lack of sleep I guess. Plus i can feel the beginnings of a sore throat so i drank calamansi juice, took paracetamol, then slept. Feeling much better now except for a bit of pain on my throat. I will try erythromycin next time :D

Get well soon, sis! If organic products work for you, that’s better! Calamansi juice is really good for colds. :)
